A revamped Diet Pepsi without aspartame is popping up on store shelves. So will people start flocking back to the soda?
PepsiCo says its new Diet Pepsi should be available nationally this week. In response to customer feedback, the company said earlier this year that it would replace the aspartame in the drink with another artificial sweetener that has less baggage.

Reuters – NYC mayor wants new laws to stem Legionnaires’ as death toll hits 12
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, reacting to a deadly outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease, proposed legislation on Monday to register and maintain the city’s estimated 2,500 cooling towers, some of which are being blamed for the illness.
On Monday the death toll was raised to 12 from 10 on Saturday and the number of cases to 113 from 108. Officials said the higher figures stem from new reporting, not new deaths or cases.

FOX News – Southern US diet tied to heart disease
People who like fried food, sweet tea and other foods synonymous with the Southern U.S. may be at an increased risk of heart attack and death, according to a new study.
“If their overall pattern of eating seems to closely match those components, they may want to move away from that,” said lead researcher James Shikany, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham

WTOP – West Nile virus discovered in Md. Mosquitoes
For the first time this year, mosquitoes in Maryland have tested positive for West Nile virus.
The insects were discovered Aug. 5 in a residential section of Bowie, in Prince George’s County, the state Department of Agriculture says. After the mosquitoes were collected, spraying was conducted in that area to reduce the insect population.
