Office of National Drug Control Policy Director Gil Kerlikowske speaks to APHA boardGil Kerlikowske, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, met Thursday with the APHA Executive Board during their fall meeting. He delivered a strong public health message and said that even law enforcement officials recognize that you can’t arrest your way out of the drug problem.  Along with illegal drugs, the office is focusing on abuse of  prescription drugs,  “drugged while driving” cases and support for those in recovery.

Kerlikowske will speak Monday during the APHA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., on the administration’s National Drug Control Strategy released this year. His presentation will address new approaches to drug control strategy.
