stepsleaderboardtop10For the second year, participants in APHA’s 1 Billion Steps Challenge far surpassed the goal.

Since kicking off the Steps Challenge in January, over 5,000 individuals and nearly 400 teams walked a collective 2 billion steps along the path to a healthier life, reaching more than twice the target goal.

“What a fantastic close to the 1 Billion Steps Challenge and National Public Health Week 2018!” said Melissa McNeily, MS, director of Affiliate Affairs at APHA, who oversees NPHW activities for the Association. “We know many participants are committed to physical activity and promoting health. But we also know a little friendly competition helped us exceed our goal.”

With the culmination of NPHW and the close of the challenge, APHA announced that this year’s team winner with the highest total number of steps was Fitbit France (Les fits barjots). The team winner with the highest average number of steps was God’s Stepping Warriors in Faith.

APHA organizes the 1 Billion Steps Challenge as part of annual National Public Health Week activities.
