Public health was a trending topic on Monday during a live Twitter chat that featured APHA Executive Director Georges Benjamin, Howard Koh (HHS_DrKoh), assistant secretary for health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and other public health notables from across the country.
The chat, hosted by APHA, focused on the daily themes of National Public Health Week, topic areas that coincide with priorities included in the National Prevention Strategy. Benjamin and Koh took questions related to second-hand smoke, sexually transmitted disease prevention for at-risk communities, campus-wide smoking bans and more. The hour-long conversation brought together 256 participants (via #NPHWchat) who shared a whopping 718 tweets. A full list of tweeters is available here.
