What does public health mean to you? Show it, make it eye-catching — and APHA will reward you.
Earlier this month, APHA launched an infographic contest in support of National Public Health Week, an annual awareness campaign held every April in which communities recognize contributions and highlight issues that are important to improving the public’s health. Infographics, visual representations of information, are gaining steam as a compelling storyteller for the digital world. That’s why APHA has teamed with Piktochart — an online application with easy-to-use infographic templates — for a contest open to health departments, federal agencies, student clubs or any U.S. resident with an interest in public health.
The rules are simple: Use Piktochart templates to convey the 2013 NPHW theme, “Public Health is ROI: Save Lives, Save Money,” showing how public health programs and efforts deliver a return on investment, or ROI, by saving lives, cutting costs and improving wellness. Submissions will be placed into four public health categories — local, state, national and global — and APHA will select one winner from each.
Winners will be awarded the opportunity to present their data and infographic during a session at the 141st APHA Annual Meeting in Boston, which occurs Nov. 2-6. One complimentary Annual Meeting registration will be provided for each winning infographic.
Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. EDT on March 15, and must be emailed to nphw@apha.org.
